SUSPENSION & CHASSIS
The CLIO RSR PROJECT is built around one of the most serious front‑end assemblies ever fitted to a road‑legal Clio: the full Renault Sport Cup front suspension system, taken directly from the Clio Cup race car. This motorsport‑grade hardware widens the front track by +2.5 cm per side, corrects bump‑steer and dynamic camber, and delivers a level of front‑end authority and stability that simply does not exist in any standard or lightly‑modified Clio. These genuine Renault Sport Cup components are extremely rare, expensive and almost impossible to source today — making this configuration truly unique in the clubsport world.
To build on this foundation, the chassis is paired with a custom‑engineered Öhlins DFV / STX suspension system, developed specifically for the RSR PROJECT by an official Öhlins authorized service center. The front Öhlins DFV Road & Track units offer a highly effective single combined adjustment, while the rear Öhlins STX units — based on the Lotus Exige application — provide fully independent compression and rebound control. Together, they give the car a dual personality: composed and confidence‑inspiring as a road‑legal clubsport machine, yet with only a few clicks capable of transforming into a track‑focused weapon that can fully exploit slick tyres with precision and consistency.
Every supporting component — subframe, bushings, uniballs, steering links, geometry corrections, driveline upgrades and chassis reinforcements — has been selected and tuned to work as part of this complete, purpose‑built system. The result is a unified chassis package that behaves like a single engineered entity: sharp, stable, brutally effective and operating at a level far beyond anything expected from a road‑legal Clio.
